The Profits Over Patients Paradox in Modern Medicine In the grand theater of life, a doctor, long revered as a savior, has donned a new role— that of the White Coat Assassin. I levitate on the thin line between life's fragility and human hubris, where medicine has begun to resemble a battlefield, and the sick play unwitting pawns in a high-stakes chess game of profits over patient care.
Great piece. It is also my belief that anyone over 70 going into hospital in the the 20 years or more was at grave risk.
My mum went in with low oxygen levels and some bowel issues and came out in a body bag because they refused to operate on a perforated bowel (a medical emergency) - because she 'could' have died on the operating table. She had a chance of living if operated on quickly. She had no chance without it. The Dr was so cold & disinterested. He's lucky I don't know where he lives!
This was in Australia about 20 years ago now.
Keep fighting & never let them rest. It is appalling that these doctors have no humanity left. I think the profession attracts the wrong type. People who are only interested in money & status. I work in admin for a Cardiology practice and see the greed & arrogance in many (not all) of the Drs.
Clair De Lune, i share your bitter disappointment in the medical cartel’s ability or want to help people regain their health. No more do I call it a profession. They simply tout for the pharmaceuticals. I too was involved in within three of the Australian states. Health is simply a political platform for the perpetrators.
